Nottingham Folk Vote Lake Windermere No.1!

Well, heralding from Nottingham, I couldn’t let this little bit of news slip through the net.

Lake Windermere has been voted in a survey as the favourite countryside view of people from Nottingham.

The same survey, which was carried out by Directblinds.co.uk, revealed 82% of the those surveyed were unhappy with the view from their window. Now I’ll stick up for Nottingham here as I’m sure if this survey was carried out in many other cities, the percentage would be around the same mark.

It’s not that bad is it!

The honour for Lake Windermere to have this accolade is raised even higher by the news that it beat Nottingham’s very own Sherwood Forest as best view. Sorry Robin!

Nicolas Swift, joint managing director of Directblinds.co.uk, said “Unfortunately waking up to a view of Lake Windermere every morning remains a distant dream for millions of us.” Yes, this is very true even amongst many Cumbria residents too but what a great place to be able to visit and even from as far as Nottingham. In fact, with Windermere’s railway station all it takes is a change at Manchester to be able to travel by train from Nottingham (a journey I did on many occasions when working in Ambleside).

Stay in Windermere, it’s handy for bus services, the train and is more peaceful than Bowness. Yet Bowness is just a short walk away and  of course, Lake Windermere simply to admire and take a boat trip on.
